Belle came to our clinic a little while ago ; her owners said she had started weeing in the house and just hadn’t been happy for some time. On examination her tummy was quite uncomfortable and her bladder felt very firm. As she had a slight temperature, she was sent home for a few days with antibiotics and painkillers and booked in for a bladder scan & x-ray. The x-ray revealed that there were many stones in the urinary bladder. These were surgically removed and Belle made an uneventful recovery. Analysis of the stones revealed that their origin had a partial dietary and a partial infectious component. So antibiotics and dietary alteration will ensure they are unlikely to recur.
