Hollie is a beautiful seven year old chocolate Sprocker. Hollie hadn’t been too well recently and after further investigation we removed a bladder stone the size of a 50 pence piece! Stones/ calculi in the urinary bladder are a fairly common finding. The dog usually presents with wetting in the house, straining to wee, blood in the wee, frequent urinating. Symptoms are very similar to cystitis. If the stone is large enough, the vet can often palpate it. X-rays / ultra sound scans also reveal many of them. Treatment is very successful and patients return to normal within a few days of surgery. Following surgery Hollie was soonback to her usual lively self.
