Carmel Casebook: Lottie

Lottie here thought that a steel wool scouring pad would make a tasty treat. It was certainly lovely and chewy!

But when it began to unravel it caused all sorts of problems. Using a fibre-optic endoscope we could see that a long piece of it was in Lottie’s gullet, but unfortunately an x-ray showed that this was still attached to the rest of the pad, stuck firmly in her stomach.

Emergency surgery performed by Tim was required to cut the metal from her stomach and also a small stone was taken out of her large bowel, quite a meal!

Fortunately Lottie made a complete recovery as you can see.
