About Carmel Vets

Carmel Veterinary Centre was established in 1993 with the belief that everyone should have affordable, professional care for their pets. Twenty years on, this is still our mission.

Understanding our clients and the concerns they have for their pets, allows us to provide a wide range of services from excellent emergency treatment to advice on providing improved well being and preventative care. We on ly employ the best staff to ensure that your pet receives the best possible care.

Our dedication to clinical excellence is backed by our commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for all staff, ensuring that the most up-to-date treatments are available at a time when your pet needs it most.

Want to join us? If you are not already registered at our surgery, please take a few moments to fill in the registration form. We will send you an information pack for your pet and make an appointment for you, should you wish.

Services & Facilities

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS)- the governing body for Veterinary Surgeons – has accredited us with an award under the “Practice Standards Scheme”. This award requires ongoing maintenance & updating – that is to say, we are examined on a regular basis. We are proud to say that we are one of the first practices in this country to achieve this award, which was developed to give an assurance of the highest standards of veterinary care.

Our excellent service has been built around your needs. Should you ever feel that we have let you down in anyway – please let us know immediately. We are constantly striving to improve. Without your feedback, we wouldn’t know where to start!

Appointments

Consultations are by appointment to minimise your waiting time. Appointments ususaly enable you to see the vet of your choice which will allow continuity of care for you and your pet. A Vet can always be contacted on 01902 73 11 27

Payment

As there is no NHS for pets all veterinary practices are funded by the fees that you pay.

In order that we can supply you and your pet with the best facilities, medication and staff, we ask that payment is made in full at the time of treatment or on collection of your pet. An estimate of treatment costs can be provided upon request.

Should it appear likely that treatment costs will exceed the original estimate – a member of our team will contact you immediately. For your convenience we accept cash, cheques and all major credit and debit cards.

Pet Insurance

Peace of Mind with Pet insurance at Carmels

As an Approved Representer for Petplan insurance, all our staff are trained to give you help and advice on which Petplan policy will best suit your needs and answer any queries that you may have.

We can even sign you up for an annual policy on the spot! For puppies, kittens and baby rabbits we can issue a free few weeks cover this is activated at first vaccination – this provides cover for your pet at a time when they are most likely to show signs of any ongoing problems.

When the free weeks cover is drawing to a close, if you decide to go ahead with the annual policy, we can sign you up for an annual policy,

Not all pet insurers are the same.

The market has been flooded by “budget” policies over the last few years. However, most of these ‘cheaper’ policies have a sting in the tail that could ensure you end up paying a lot more in the long run. You may suffer a 20% excess or a limited claim period (usually only 12 months treatment is paid – not very helpful when your dog develops arthritis at the age of two!).

To be safe – ALWAYS ensure you read the small print thoroughly before accepting any policy. Your pet’s health need not be compromised by financial constraints. Don’t get caught out – get peace of mind and insure your pet today!

We strongly believe in the value of pet insurance. Most people insure their home and their car, but neglect to insure their pet.

With a 1 in 3 chance that your pet will require unexpected veterinary treatment this year, you are much more likely to NEED the pet insurance!

Petplan has been established for over 20 years. They do not individually risk assess your pet – which means that if your pet suffers with more than one condition during the year, or even if you don’t need to claim, you will still benefit from the same low policy premium.
